Job Description:


Solutions Architects are primarily responsible for post-sales technical tasks, enabling customers to successfully migrate applications and computing needs to the Bracket Computing Cell. Candidate must be able to lead conversations with customers to derive an understanding of project requirements as well as communicate best practices.  They will design solutions for customers that translate the customer’s application needs into the building blocks provided by Bracket, resulting in a solution that is secure, reliable, and scalable. Candidate will be involved with scoping customer projects and creating a Statement of Work to meet the project requirements. Candidate will create customer documentation describing the design of a solution. Specific project activities include:



  • On-boarding customers to the Bracket Computing Cloud solution.

  • Design of solutions for customer projects, and implementation of the design.

  • Consulting with customer on the use of Bracket APIs and integrating them into the customer based systems.

  • Consulting with customer on migrating applications to the Bracket Computing Cell, and tuning compute or storage to meet application performance needs.

  • Coach customer and partner teams to be self-sufficient.


Because Bracket is in startup stage, a variety of tasks will fall to the Solutions Architect beyond the primary role.  A willingness to help in a variety of areas of the Bracket business and Customer Success team is a requirement. In addition to customer project responsibilities, the Solutions Architect will assist the sales team as needed for proof of concept pre-sales projects and will provide feedback to the product management team for requests from customers about desired functionality.


The candidate should be a self-starter with at least 5 plus years of experience in the fields of enterprise networks, storage, or security.  The ideal candidate will be excited about the challenges in working at a startup company.


Technical skills should include solid knowledge of TCP/IP networking. You absolutely must know your way around a UNIX CLI, and Linux or BSD experience would be ideal. Experience with cloud computing offerings like Amazon AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google GCE is a must. Familiarity with software development application frameworks and some programming experience, in python, perl, ruby, or shell script would be very welcome. Basic knowledge of SQL and relational or other databases or database services is also good: Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL, Microsoft SQL Server. Hadoop is popular, too, so familiarity with the open source or one of the commercial Hadoop cluster distributions would be excellent.



Requirements: 



  • Education - BA/BS is preferred, with degree in computer science or engineering

  • Extensive hands-on skills with UNIX-like OSs: Linux, Solaris, etc. Knowledge of MS Windows 2008 or 2012 server family.

  • Experience with IP network design – Routing, VPN's, DNS, load balancing, firewalling, etc.

  • Experience with cloud or virtualized environments; AWS or GCE experience a plus

  • Basic understanding of databases and SQL; DB Admin skills a plus

  • Familiarity with Chef or Puppet a plus

  • Familiarity with security concepts, i.e. private/public keys, certificates, encryption, etc.

  • Strong communication skills- oral and written; both internally with other Bracket employees and externally with customers

  • Excellent organizational skills-  good detail orientation & follow up; some project management experience

  • Total customer ownership mentality with appropriate escalation practices

  • Ability to travel for customer projects

    The Role:

    As a Systems Reliability Engineer working on Bloomberg's critical services, your mission will be to ensure Bloomberg is fast, highly available, scalable, and able to withstand unprecedented increases in load.
